When Moses was used by God to lead the Israelits out of slavery in Egypt, Moses originally told God "No, send someone else." In fact, Moses, the man who delivered the 10 Commandments, allegedly had a speach impedement. There are plenty of other examples throughout the bible of God using people who did not want to be called, and who were not readily equipped (without God's help) to do what He had called them to do.
I know that personally, I can relate better to the story of Jonah. God calls him, he tries to hide, and then God sends a big fish to swallow him up and spit him out at his destination. In other words, God pretty much had to whack him over the head to get his attention. That's me.
Open question to all who are reading and care to comment: Are there times in your life when you know God was 'working on you' for some other purpose, or calling you to do somthing? How do you hear God's call?
